In recent days the news is quite dense about vaping in Canada. Today is a survey of the firm Light which is presented and according to the results we learn that 7 Canadians on 10 (69%) want the government to act as quickly as possible to reduce or eliminate the "dependence" of young people on vaping products.
If young Canadians have recently shown a strong propensity for vaping, it would be because of the influence of mass advertising, which promotes several varieties of e-cigarettes. The fact that these vaping products are presented in attractive packaging and that their flavors are varied could be other reasons for attraction.
According to the Léger survey, 7 Canadians on 10 (69%) want the government to act as quickly as possible to reduce or eradicate this youth dependence on vaping products. They are even more numerous, On 8 10to ask for total ban advertising of these products both on television and on the Internet.
"86% of Canadians agree that the same advertising restrictions as tobacco products should apply to vaping products, including 77% smokers"Observed Michael Perley, Executive Director of the Ontario Campaign for Action on Tobacco, in the press release.
Federal officials have recently indicated that this situation is of sufficient concern to initiate consultations to determine the best way to intervene. The Minister of Health Ginette Petitpas-Taylor then announced the launch of two regulatory consultations to oversee the advertising of vaping products and to regulate attributes, flavors, presentations, nicotine levels, etc.
