In Switzerland, after the failure of the Tobacco Bill a year ago in Parliament, a new version was proposed Friday by the Federal Council. But the adjustments made are not enough to fit the requirements of WHO.
The main cause of failure in Parliament, advertising bans in cinemas, by billboard and in the paid press no longer appear in the law submitted for consultation, said Friday the Federal Council. The project allows the sale in Switzerland of electronic cigarettes with nicotine. This will set legal requirements, according to the authorities.
Electronic cigarettes will be subject to the same restrictions as traditional cigarettes for advertising and selling to minors. Whether they contain nicotine or not, they will be subject to the law on protection against passive smoking and will be banned from places where smoking is prohibited. The same goes for shisha.
In addition, the ban on the sale of tobacco products to minors will be extended to all of Switzerland.
