SWITZERLAND: The Friborg Council of State wants to ban e-cigarettes to minors

In Switzerland, the regulation of e-cigarettes does not stop with the current pandemic. Indeed, the Friborg Council of State wishes to better regulate the sale of tobacco and e-cigarettes to young people. He put a legal amendment for consultation on Monday intended to fill a legal void.

PROHIBIT THE SALE OF E-CIGARETTE TO UNDER 18 YEARS OLD!

This loophole allows the purchase of e-cigarettes by minors, which goes against the efforts made in favor of the protection of young people, underlines the cantonal executive in a press release.

Currently and in the absence of a federal law, adaptations have been carried out at the cantonal level. Steps to regulate new tobacco-derived products have already been adopted in several cantons such as those of Valais, Geneva and Bern in particular.

In the process, the Friborg Council of State planned to increase the age limit for consumption of these products for young people. It plans to raise to 18 the age limit below which it will be forbidden to sell tobacco products, electronic cigarettes and similar products.
