SWITZERLAND: The Friborg State Council wants to ban minors from e-cigarettes

In Switzerland, the regulation of e-cigarettes does not stop with the current pandemic. Indeed, the Friborg Council of State wishes to better regulate the sale of tobacco and e-cigarettes to young people. He put in consultation Monday a legal modification intended to fill a legal vacuum.

PROHIBIT THE SALE OF E-CIGARETTE UNDER 18 YEARS!

This gap allows the purchase of e-cigarettes by minors, which goes against the efforts made in favor of the protection of youth, said the cantonal executive in a statement.

Currently, and in the absence of a federal law, adaptations have been made at the cantonal level. Steps to regulate new tobacco products have already been adopted in several cantons such as those of Valais, Geneva and Bern in particular.

In the process, the Friborg State Council has planned to increase the age limit for consumption of these products for young people. He plans to raise the age limit below 18, which will prohibit the sale of tobacco products, electronic cigarettes and similar products.
