In Belgium, it seems that tobacco brings a lot of money to the state! Indeed, the indirect tax on tobacco has brought 123,8 million more in 2018, this figure could partly explain why the government does nothing to liberalize the use and sale of products of the vape.
The Belgian State has earned some 8,83 billion euros through excise duties on various products in 2018. The indirect tax on tobacco yielded 123,8 million more than the previous year. Excise revenue from manufactured tobacco increased 2,373 billion in 2018, after four years of stagnation.
Border sales probably played a role in this development, given that the price of the pack of cigarettes increased by 1 euro in France in March 2018. But with such sums, it is very easy to understand why the Belgian government does not want to put forward vaping.
