The local government of Wales (West of the United Kingdom) today introduced a bill to ban the use of electronic cigarettes in closed or covered public places and at workplaces. The Welsh executive intends to copy the legislation regulating conventional cigarettes.
If the text is adopted by the Cardiff Parliament, Wales would become, by the end of 2016 or 2017, the first region in the United Kingdom to impose such restrictions.
The goal is to avoid a " Re-normalization Of tobacco use via the electronic cigarette, presented as a " catwalks To the traditional cigarette, said Mark Drakeford, according to which tobacco caused the death of 5.450 people last year in Wales.
The United Kingdom has about 2,6 millions of vapers.
In Europe, several countries, such as Portugal or Belgium, have adopted measures to ban them in public places.
