This is a topic that may not be enough: the presence of tobacco in movies, cinema and especially in blockbusters. Yet, an impact exists since a rise in 72% of representations or suggestions of tobacco use was detected by the CDC.
More and more cigarettes would be seen in popular high-budget films, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Representations or suggestions for using tobacco in these films have increased by 72% between 2010 and 2016, the report says, showing tobacco on the screen would encourage younger people to smoke.
On average, the first cigarette is smoked at the age of 14 and a half years old. In France, among older adolescents aged 15, more than 5 on 10 have already experimented with tobacco and about 2 on 10 smoke daily, reports the French Federation of Cardiology.
