ITALY: Professor Polosa reminds us that "vaping does not damage the lungs"

In Italy, Prof. Riccardo Polosa is tackling an American study on vaping that he believes forgets several important factors. As a reminder, this study declared that the electronic cigarette could cause certain pulmonary diseases.

"THE USE OF E-CIGARETTE DOES NOT CREATE LONG-TERM RISKS! "

Through the Prof. Riccardo Polosa, director of the Institute of Internal Medicine and Clinical Immunology of the University of Catania, the Liaf (Lega Italiana Antifumo) responded to published research on the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

According to US research, vaping will trigger an immune response that can lead to inflammation of the airways. The widespread concerns based on these results have not yet been approved by the International Scientific Committee on Vaping led by Riccardo Polosa.

He declares moreover: It is a search for poor methodological quality that tends to focus on risks having little or no impact on human health without really considering the potential benefits of vaping. This US study does not take into account several important factors. »

Riccardo Polosa concludes by recalling that If the use of the electronic cigarette does not interfere with lung activity, it does not even create long-term risks. »
