In Switzerland, Vape professionals from Canton of Geneva will have had hope until the end! In fact, a referendum had been launched to counter an amendment to the law providing for the assimilation of vaping products to tobacco products. Bad luck or shenanigans, they collected 5760 signatures, but more than 700 were invalidated, while 5294 were needed.
Wednesday, the Council of State of the Canton of Geneva noted the failure of a referendum launched to counter an amendment to the law on tobacco products.
What was disputed by the referendums was the assimilation of vaping products to tobacco, with the same restrictions. Unfortunately, we learn that the vaping professionals have not been successful. Indeed, they would have collected 5760 signatures, but more than 700 were invalidated, whereas it was necessary 5294. The referendum for "independence" of the vape vis-à-vis tobacco products is therefore rejected.
This rejection of the referendum could unfortunately have terrible consequences on vaping in the canton of Geneva.
