According to his remarks the reasons would be family and would concern his distance between Washington and his home in Connecticut.
The US Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, the Dr. Scott Gottlieb, said Tuesday in a letter to staff that he was leaving the agency.
« Il It is difficult for me to write this note to let you know that I will be leaving my position as FDA Commissioner next month. There may be nothing that can take me away from this role other than "The" challenge of being separated from my family in the last two years and not seeing my wife and three young children ", Says the letter, which the FDA tweeted.

An administration official informed of the situation said the move had been ongoing for several months. According to him, Dr. Gottlieb travels to Washington every week from his home in Connecticut and leaves his position to spend more time with his family.

Alex Azar, secretary of the Department of Health and Social Services, the parent agency of the FDA, said Tuesday in a statement that Mr. Gottlieb " was an exemplary leader in public health, an aggressive advocate for American patients, and a strong advocate for innovation".
