In the United States, while some states are revising the bans or taxes on e-cigarettes, others continue to issue regulations. Indeed, the state of New Jersey could very soon ban the flavors used for e-liquids.
It was at the Assembly committee last Monday that the ban on flavors for e-liquids was mentioned. At the same time, a bill that prohibits promotional offers for tobacco products and vaping has been adopted. For Herb Conway JrAs the doctor and co-instigator of the bill, the goal is clearly to prevent these products from targeting young people.
The current law prohibits the sale or distribution of cigarettes that have a characterizing flavor other than tobacco or menthol, however, the law does not prohibit the sale or distribution of electronic cigarettes, cartridges or other components of which e-liquids. Offenders would be subject to an initial fine of 250 $ if this famous measure was passed as law.
According to the US Surgeon General's Office, the use of electronic cigarettes among high school students has increased by 900% in four years (from 2011 to 2015). In August 2016, the FDA officially banned sales of electronic cigarettes to minors under the age of 18.
